Who am I and why does this blog exist?

This is a blog about superannuation.  What is it that makes Super(annuation)Freak so freaky?  Super(annuation)Freak has a strange fascination for superannuation for a mid-30s fellow with perhaps 12% of his assets in superannuation.

About a year before starting this blog, Super(annuation)Freak left a career in the financial sector to return to study.  Along with many real-life changes, one consequence of this was an expectation from financial services companies that he should pay for their services, with no "staff package" to allow for an easy default choice.

Super(annuation)Freak has never worked in the superannuation field, nor sold financial products for a living (and cannot offer financial advice). However, after a bunch of reading and searching for information on global approaches to retirement savings and superannuation products available in Australia it seems a waste not to share it.  This blog attempts to do just that.
